Azurit – a new low cut leather sneaker from Mukishoes which features new outsole made from 100% natural rubber, new pattern which also fit well to shallower feet and new blue-gray leather colour. Mukishoes you are awesome, you know!

With continuously improving their models, producing their shoes as sustainably as possible and using natural and sustainable materials, Mukishoes is becoming one of the leading and most popular barefoot brands. As they try to keep a conscious stock, all their models are not available all the time in all sizes, but they are absolutely worth waiting for.

When this gorgeous Azurit arrived at my doorstep I was like “Oh, please, let those shoes fit me”. What I was afraid of? Well, too much volume for my shallow feet.

Do you think they fit me? Let’s find out 🙂

2. Material characteristics

2.1 Upper

Azurit is made from quality chrome-free smooth leather upper. The colour is a beautiful mixture of blue and grey colour and they may look slightly different from photo to photo depending on the light. I found it very hard to capture a real colour.

Flat cotton laces are contrasting white colour. At the top of the tongue there is a small Mukishoes logo.

Small decorative pull tabs give the Azurit modern look.

2.2 Lining

Mukishoes Azurit is lined with organic cotton in purple colour. Only the best materials are touching your skin.

2.3 Sole

I’m super impressed with their new outsole. It is made from 100% natural rubber and it has an amazing ground feeling. Love it!

The sole is only 3.5 mm thick and shoes have impressive flexibility. One of the best on the market.

Also check my video for the close-up and to see how they look on my feet.

3. Sizing information

3.1 Length

Azurit is an unisex adult shoe available in sizes 36-48. I wear size 42 myself, but the shoes are 2 mm shorter than the values given in the table.

My feet are 26.3 cm long and in my Azurit model I have 9 mm space in front of my toes. This is not my usual 12 mm space I choose inside the shoe. I could have just slightly more space in front of my third toe while wearing socks, but the toebox shape matches my foot shape really well, shoes have plenty of space above the toes and they are perfect width. So, this is a rare case when I can say that less than 12 mm still works for me.

See my post How much space do we need in shoes if you want to know more about that.

NOTE: Take in mind that usually internal lengths of the shoes in size charts are measured from the middle part of the heel to the point between the big toe and the second toe (which is usually also the longest part of the shoe), so the space you have for your toes is usual slightly less than this. How much less it depends on the shape of the shoe (how much it slopes) and the shape of the foot.

3.2. Toebox shape & width

Mukishoes toebox have more rounded shape and a milder slope towards the little toe. This shape suit the best to feet with the longest second toe or foot with first and second toe the same length. They can also be worn by people with the longest first toe, but there will be more space in front of the little toes.

More about different foot types you can read in my post What is my Foot Type?

Just look how well Mukishoes toebox shape matches my foot shape. All my toes have enough space in front of them.

In terms of width they fit the best to medium and medium-wide feet. My feet are 10 cm wide and I have enough space for my toes to splay. They will also suit feet with more volume around the ball of the foot (not wider, but with bigger circumference around the toes).

Mukishoes also have plenty of space above the toes which can be great for those who have slightly curved big toes and usually find this disturbing in shoes.

3.3. Fit around the instep, heel and ankle

Mukishoes have been known as a brand for feet with more volume (higher instep, wider ankles, bigger circumference around the ball of the foot, etc.), but those new models fit lower instep much better. They fit well my shallow feet now too.

You can see I have the laces tightly tied and shoes feel secure on my feet. They still fit well to feet with more volume, but there is slightly less volume in the toebox area now.

I find them a little wider around the ankles and you can notice some gapping if I wear them sockless. But they still feel secure on my feet and I don’t find this disturbing.

4. Comfort

Don’t jump straight into your new Azurit sockless as I did. At the beginning the heel part can feel a little stiff.

All Mukishoes are made from natural materials that go through as little treatments as possible as something like this is normal. I recommend you to wear them with your socks on to prevent rubbing. This was a solution for me and 3 days with socks on was enough time to soften the heel part completely.

5. How and when to wear them?

Dressed up or down, they look great either way. My absolute favourite way of wearing them is with jeans and T-shirt for a casual look. As they look so minimalistic, they will also look great with a summer dress or a skirt.

6. Price & where to buy

Mukishoes can be bought at the official Mukishoes website. Price for the Azurit model is 120 €.

8. To sum up

Who would have thought that these gorgeous shoes would make a blister on my heel when I will put them on for the first time. But don’t be intimidated. I was just too impatient and immediately started wearing them sockless. I just forgot that these shoes are made of completely natural material and that they need time to show their softness there as well (which happened extremely fast by the way). And it was worth the wait.

Wonderful design, quality materials and workmanship and an exceptional feeling of lightness on the foot absolutely convince me. I wear Azurit with great pleasure and this is definitely not my last pair of this wonderful brand.
